Thanks to a parent who informed me that Aus Flooring had wallpaper sample books to get rid of. I picked many dozens of these books and have been using the wallpaper in a variety of lessons for the different grades.

 Beverly Buchanan and her shack sculptures were studied by third grade students. Buchanan creates her shacks from found objects and foam core.
Third graders used the wallpaper scraps and popsicle sticks to created their own versions of shacks.

First grade student created art works in the style of Matisse. They learned that Matisse created 'cut outs' near the end of his life. These are pictures created with shapes cut from paper and glued down.

Second grade students studied primary and secondary colors. Their next step was to mis primary colors to create secondary colors.

Once dried the papers were cut into bird bodies and feather shapes. These were glued down to create their color theory birds.

This was a long project yet the birds were beautiful when finished!

 Fourth grades students learned about Keith Harring and his graffiti, murals, and paintings. They created figures in motion from looking at classmates in motion. These figures were then redrawn, cut out and glued onto a mural.
